Do you create text and literature?

This is how we look after your interests

How can you use Forfatternes Forvaltningsselskab?

Forfatternes Forvaltningsselskab generally enters into broad, collective agreements for the use of many texts works. This could be, for example, when a radio station needs to use many different texts works. If your works are used in that context, you will receive a remuneration for this.

You are still free to use your works as you have done so far. Forfatternes Forvaltningsselskab works to create additional income - primarily in new business areas. In this way, the company's activities are not an "either/or" in relation to the way you currently earn money from your works, but more of a "both/and".

Distribution of non-distributable funds

Lawsuits

FFS can provide support for expenses in connection with the implementation of legal proceedings on behalf of copywriters, including translators.

The cases may deal with copyright issues of general interest to text authors, including calculation of royalties. Cases concerning the settlement of royalties, including debt collection cases and cases between several authors, for example in cases in relation to ยง 4, stk. 1 of the Copyright Act, cannot obtain support.

FFS makes a concrete assessment of each individual case for which support is sought, and in this connection takes into account the extent to which the case can be expected to be won.

FFS can promise full or partial coverage of costs or refuse to provide support at all. The general legal principles of equal treatment apply to the assessment of applications. Refusal of support is justified.

Any costs for processing applications, e.g. through obtaining expert assistance, are borne by the pool for non-distributable funds.

The radio area

FFS can provide support for the development of new texts for the radio area.

The field of radio must be understood broadly as encompassing ordinary broadcasting of radio signals via radio waves, e.g. on the FM band, as well as other electronic media or auditory media.

Granting of support takes place on the basis of an overall assessment of the applications, where the following criteria are included in the assessment:

  • It is a prerequisite that there is a performance of texts either as a reading, as a dramatic performance or similar, for at least 60% of the duration of the broadcast
  • That it is a matter of using either newer texts, or that older texts are included in an innovative way
  • That it is a matter of rethinking how texts are created or included in radio broadcasting
  • That there is a binding agreement that the broadcast will be broadcast or another equivalent positive commitment.

Support can be given for the production of the broadcast itself as well as to cover the costs of the writing process. Support is not given to cover costs for the broadcasting itself, including coverage of technology-related costs or to cover copyright clearance in connection with broadcasting.

FFS can promise full or partial coverage of costs or refuse to provide support at all. The general legal principles of equal treatment apply to the assessment of applications. Refusal of support is justified.

Any costs for processing applications, e.g. through obtaining expert assistance and assessment of applications etc., are borne by the pool for non-distributable funds.

There are no formal requirements for the application, but it is recommended that a project description, the position on the above criteria, budget, and relevant annexes be submitted.

There are no deadlines or form requirements for applications which are simply sent to the Director of Forfatternes Forvaltningsselskab Stig von Hielmcrone at svh@forfatterselskabet.dk. Decisions on support are made by FFS's board.
